  • Developed a stock research platform for a client, with a set of Java applications responsible for executing the client's research algorithms, and a Java Servlet/JSP website to present the data to clients. Added features such as e-Commerce and Affiliate Marketing to the site.
  • Experience with taking over failed outsourcing projects, including a stock-charting package for the client above.
  • In EightSPOT's incubator model (HatchMAP), decided on and developed up and coming Web 2.0 ideas. Led a small team of designers and developers in the decision-making and development process.

Managed a development and operations team of 7. Responsible for all company technical decisions, from purchasing and hosting, to hiring, and software development decisions. Designed content delivery system for web and email advertising system that was designed, developed, operated, and maintained by my team.
  • Brought in to manage a small existing team of developers working for the company president. As CTO, grew the team to triple the size, including a small operations staff.
  • Responsible for all day-to-day technical operations of the company, including decision-making, infrastructure, and purchasing.
  • Still hands on, put in a lot of development time in addition to my other responsibilities.
  • Worked with my team to make sure we were all still learning new tools: we tried to spend at least 10% of our time learning about new tools, libraries, and languages.

Senior Software Architect
Designed new web application architecture for SASI's international stock trading business. Used J2EE and XSLT to build a dynamic platform that could be easily redesigned for different clients. Once live, in addition to maintenance, we built an order monitoring system to track stock orders placed and routed through various platforms.
  • Used cutting edge technologies such as XSLT, and the early adaptations of Java Servlets and other J2EE technology, to build a highly customizable web platform for international stock trading.
  • Produced the application with completely separate presentation and business layers so that the in-house web designers could customize sites without touching the Java sources.
  • While maintaining the web platform, built an inter-platform monitoring tool for SASI's stock order system. Built a Windows UI that connected to a custom built monitoring service; the monitoring service aggregated trading information from various platforms: mainframe, Windows NT servers, Solaris servers, Web, phone orders, etc.

Senior Software Engineer
Started working at Amarex the week before I graduated from high school, developing test UIs in C and Motif for their IVR platform. Quickly moved up the ranks, becoming a Senior Software Engineer within a year and designing and leading a team in building part of MCI's Next Generation Service Node, still used today for signaling and interactive voice response systems.
  • Started off building C/Motif User Interfaces for testing IVR systems, at the age of 17.
  • Quickly moved on to building a large component of an audio provisioning system for British Telecom.
  • Designed and developed an audio and application provisioning system for MCI's Next Generation Service Node. Acted as lead engineer and led a small team in developing this system.
  • Primary designer and lead developer for a generic provisioning system for Comverse's internal IVR/Signaling platform.
  • Worked directly with clients on both the design and integration phases of projects.
